At Home With Pastor: When God is Doing Something New

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
Isaiah 43:18-19

Sometimes, the Lord is wanting to do something “new” and yet we are still stuck in the “old.” At times it is hard to let go of the familiar. It seems easier to stay “comfortable” and just keep going with the flow. But, then “new” happens, and often sends our world spiraling, seemingly out of control. But, here is what I love about the Lord:

  1. He thinks and works outside our own box of thinking:
“Do not dwell on the past!” He does not always work in the ways that we would have chosen for our “new.” He thinks bigger and better, never missing out on crucial moments in our lives. He knows that dwelling on our past will get us nowhere, so He designs new purposes and territory to get us beyond it.
  2. He sees the big picture:
“See!” Sometimes our “new” comes out of great blessing, new opportunities. And sometimes it comes through great pain, huge loss. There are times we might go through some really tough struggles. But it still breathes this truth: He sees the big picture. He is not finished with our lives yet. We are still here. And He has great purpose in all that we walk through, even in every life change and season.
  3. He knows what He is doing:
“I am doing a new thing!”He works behind our daily, unfolding life scenes in the places where we cannot always see or understand all the “why’s.” So, we can trust that He has our best in mind, that He has our back and is with us right now. We can rest in His care for us. He knows. He sees. He works in ways we do not always “get”, but there is peace in knowing that we do not have to try to control anything. We can let go of the need for figuring it all out and seeking to make things happen. We can trust Him. Our future awaits, and there is still good around the bend. The Lord has more in store!

We are praying for you! God Bless
